Funding received in 2025
Funding received during 2025 means that we can continue our efforts to make our physical site at Higher Wheal Martyn more inclusive (updates to follow); whilst support from the Dangerous Dads Network and FEAST (part of the Creative Kernow group – funded from Arts Council England and Cornwall County Council) means sessions and community events are more accessible thanks to subsidises and aiding collaborations.
We began two new projects this year thanks to financial support from Forestry England’s Feel Good in the Forest (Active Forests Programme): a Mamas in Nature support group for mothers and their babies; and Bos yn ta yn Natur (Be Well in Nature) wellbeing and mental health support group for young females (aged 12-16yo).

Funding received in 2024
2024 was a transformational year for our Higher Wheal Martyn site with monies raised from our Crowdfunders and successful grants enabling us to produce wheelchair friendly pathways and inclusive features making our site even more accessible, as well as building a pizza oven and renovating our orchard area and ‘crib hut’.
Support from the Time2Move programme meant that we facilitated over 150 children accessing free Holiday Club sessions during the school holidays; whilst other funding resulted in fees being subsidised for our monthly Dangerous Dads and Making Tracks groups, as well as creating exciting opportunities for bespoke workshops.
Other funds received created Community Engagement Coordinator role enabling focused work in supporting the community, including those with additional needs and/or disabilities and identifying how best to meet these needs. This will also inform and shape the our plans for 2025…

Funding received in 2023
Donations received during 2023 meant we could continue our efforts in making the site as accessible and inclusive as possible, with a focus on pathways and the preparations for creating an outdoor kitchen area; as well as aiding our recovery works in the aftermath of Storm Eunice damages.
We began our funded wellbeing sessions for adolescents, creating new opportunities for local secondary schools to support their students, and this will continue into 2024; whilst further funding successes has meant our growing team of freelancers is well supported through supervision and training opportunities to facilitate both their personal and professional growth.

Funding received in 2022
Donations received during 2022 meant we partially funded Mamas in Nature, Dangerous Dads and Making Tracks groups, enabling inclusion of people from all backgrounds; and supported the expansion of our Nurture Programme. It also provided an Education Outreach programme, providing professional development for staff on outdoor learning including the therapeutic practice to enhance wellbeing for staff and pupils.
Other monies enabled development of a sensory garden and outdoor play space, improving our water conservation abilities, and obtaining outdoor seating including an accessible picnic table.
With thanks to: School for Social Entrepreneurs, The National Lottery, Cornwall Community Foundation, Cornish Lithium, Cornwall Commissioner’s Community grant scheme, Asda Foundation, Volunteer Cornwall, Arnold Clark Foundation, South West Water.
